My Fall Mantel

I am going to miss the New England Fall most of all.
It is starting to hit me that I am actually living in Florida now.
I could not wait to pull out my Fall stuff
My Mom thought I was nuts.

I am not ready to decorate for Halloween
I needed something for September.

Our new place has a fireplace
Yes a fireplace in Florida
I lived in New England for 40 years and NEVER had one.
I have a Fireplace but no Mantel.

I had to take action.
My dear old "Fantel" had an operation
I removed the board that connected the sides and top
Added some screws to secure it
And now I have a Mantel shelf.

I wanted to keep things simple.
Old Books, Jar of Acorns, Orange Berries in a Jug
Black Lantern, Cream Plate with Transfer, Welcome Pumpkin
and my favorite Bean Pot with Orange Berries

I also made a  Fall Leaf Garland I have seen on Pinterest

I took two 16 x 20 artist canvas and mod podge old dictionary pages to them.
Added an empty black frame tied with fabric.

I have had this mirror forever.
                                                   And my Fall Wreath

My little touch of Autumn
Even though it is still 90 degrees outside.

I think this is my favorite Mantel I have done so far.
I can't wait to add to this for Halloween.
Then Thanksgiving
Then Christmas
Then Winter...............in Florida
hmmmm... that should be interesting.

  2. I love it all!! It looks beautiful. I love the canvas' with the frame and sconces. How did you add those sconces?

I grew up in New England and now live in south Alabama and the thing I miss most is fall also. I always decorate for fall hoping it will bring colder temperatures.

  11. So, #1: I'm almost a year late in viewing your post - but hey, Fall will be here before we know it! Love everything about your mantel display... and #2: I can't believe my eyes, I have the SAME wall candle sconces! I picked them up at GW for 99 cents! I just haven't painted mine yet... ideas are brewing in my head already.
