My Dilemma with Bertha

I want you to meet someone.
Someone that I need to share my New Creative Space with.
I really don't have a choice in the matter.
She plays a big role in our daily lives

I get to share my Creative Space with a hot water tank.
Bertha the Hot Water Tank.
Alright now your all thinking I am losing it.
Blogging about a hot water tank.
But I am stumped.
How can I hide this thing?
(it needs to be accessible)

When I open the doors to my space this is the view.
Do you like how I blurred things?
My space is not ready for the full reveal yet ;-)
Just a few more projects to finish.

Ok back to Bertha.
Any ideas?
I hung a curtain but hated how it looked.

It sits on this platform.
And above it is the pipes and ceiling.
I just hate looking at it when I open the doors.

So any ideas on how to make Bertha pretty?

  1. I have an idea. I covered an ugly window with a piece of fabric covered canvas here: http://directionsnotincluded.blogspot.com/2011/12/simple-cover-up-fabric-covered-canvas.html
If you can sort of put a top frame along the top of the closet maybe you can put two canvases - one on the front and one on the side of Bertha. You can even use a lightweight MDF and use the same book paper treatment so it all blends in. Let me know if that doesn't make sense.

  2. I think if you picked out a pretty fabric or a curtain and hung it in front of and on the side of Betha that would look really good. You could cut it to fit the size of Bertha so you don't cover up the extra space for your craft area. I hope this helps!! Good luck! I can't wait to see what you do:)

  3. Give her a gathered skirt with a ruffle on top! They wrap water heaters to insulate so it should not be a problem. That's assuming the waterheater is electric (no pilot light). could be changed for the seasons!
