Paisley, Plaid and Polka Dot Pumpkins

Paisley, Plaid, and Polka Dot Pumpkins
Whew say that five times fast.
It seems like every year I come up with a pumpkin.
Actually one of my very first post was a pumpkin
My Wee Little Pumpkins can be seen here
Last year they grew up  here

So this year I went in a different direction.
My inspiration of course came from Pinterest.
And a sweet little blog Happy Together and her Playful Pumpkins.

So I dug in my stash and visited the fabric store.
Dusted off the sewing machine
And went to work.

And Yes Mom you can have the turquoise ones.

Handmade Holiday - Flannel Scarf

We see our Neighbors pretty much everyday.
The 5 year old and I see them when we walk to the bus stop.
Most of them are out walking their pets.
And of course the 5 year old needs to stop, chat and play.
A simple 8 minute walk can take up to 20 minutes
Now with Winter here some of the early morning do have a chill in them
Not like I am use to but there is that chill.
We put together small bags of doggie biscuits for her furry friends
And then I thought it would be nice to do something for the non-furry freinds.
I saw an idea over at See Kate Sew
I'll admit I stock her blog looking for sewing tips
And all it took was 1 yard of fabric.
She has a great Tutorial (for adults and kids)
This is my version.

I have been hoarding Flannel from JoAnn's
The brown and ivory damask made me swoon.
There is alot more than just plaid
But plaid would be wonderful too.

I added one of my Satin Flowers with some bling
I swear they were so easy to make probaly 30 minutes tops.
Probaly less if my sewing skills were better.

I kept this one for myself.
And it kept me toasty warm at the bus stop.
And my neighbor's have been walking around sporting them.
Keeping themselves toasty warm.
Maybe I should do a doggie version so they can match?

Believe Pennant Banner (Tutorial)

I wanted to make a banner for my kitchen.
I usually use paint chips.
But lets work outside the box this year.
Something different.
For me at least.
After making my "snowman" banner for my Mantel
I knew I could do it.

I picked up some Snuggle Flannel Fabric at JoAnn's
(it's on sale until Christmas for 60% off)

1. An 1/8 of a yard will be more than enough
2. Cut out your shapes, I chose pennants
3. I backed them with felt I had on hand, I cut the felt bigger than the flannel
4. Stitch them together by machine or by hand.
5. Trim the access felt and press with iron
6. Stitch (or glue) ribbon/trim across the top
7. Add letters, I used glitter chipboard letters that stick.
8. Hang up and enjoy.

Simple, Easy, and Cheap Inexpensive

UPDATE: I have had a few inquires from the prints that are on my shelf.
I got them from a wonderful blog called The Handmade Home
She has a bunch of FREE printables.
Just print and frame...Instant Art.

EEK Pillow

Been working on decorating my front porch/patio for Halloween
Basically its a concrete slab.
Its my concrete slab
And I can do what I wish with it.

My Mom gave me a bench.
I was going to put it in our Master Bedroom.
It just wasn't working.
It more was a place to pile things upon.
So out to the porch it went.

I definitely want to paint it.
What color is another story..........

Now back to the pillow......
So a bench needs pillows.
So why not Halloween Pillows.

First step visit The Graphics Fairy
That is where I found the spooky looking tree.
I printed it directly onto a piece of muslin.
I added pieces of orange burlap to the top and bottom.
(I had to do this to fit my existing pillow form I had)

I found bat buttons at Joann's
Thought they would look great flying on the tree.
Stamped on the "EEK" with some acrylic paint

The other two pillows are just from some black checked fabric I had.
I used natural burlap on the backside so I can flip them after Halloween.

So there we have it.
A pillow that says EEK.
Are we scared yet?

More to come on the porch later this week........
Someone stayed home from school today with a runny nose.
But insisted on being outside with me.

And she picked out her outfit herself today
No wonder she is hiding her face

But a sneak peek on another porch project......

Burlap Candy Corn Bunting.
